On Thursday, the Suez Canal Authority's chairman Osama Rabie announced that there is a good indication that the issue of the Ever Given ship will be resolved soon.

"We will continue our work plan, the issue will be resolved by the end of the week or early next week, and UK Club has shown and will show utmost cooperation, proactive cooperation with the SCA," Rabie told the media on Thursday.

"Of course, it is quite possible that the Suez Canal Authority will reach a settlement with Ever Given, and there has been some movement in that direction in the few last weeks or so," he added.

According to an official statement released last week by the UK Club, the Legal Advisors of the British Club explained: “The Club is now involved in fruitful talks regarding the authority’s claim over the grounding of the ship for six days.”

“It is hopeful of a positive resolution to these negotiations soon,” the statement added.

In May, SCA refuted claims by the UK Club and the Japanese shipbuilding company Imabari Shipbuilding that the speed of the Ever Given ship was controlled by the canal’s operator before it ran aground in the canal.

Also, the Egyptian firm indicated that exceeding set speeds at the country’s strategic canal is the sole responsibility of the ship’s captain.
