Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Ashraf Sobhi received Monday Egypt's handball national team after landing in Egypt with the African Men’s Handball Championship title.

The Pharaohs booked their place at this year’s Olympic Games in Tokyo after defeating host Tunisia 27-23 in the final game to claim the African Championship trophy.

"You are a good ambassador for sports in Egypt and all the Egyptians supported  you," Sobhi said.

The Egyptian minister expressed his deep pleasure over the achievement accomplished by the national team.

The Pharaohs managed to end the first half with a 12-11 score.

Egypt remained undefeated in the tournament as they qualified for the main round after topping Group A with maximum six points.

The Pharaohs qualified for the final after beating Algeria 30-27 in the semi-final, while Eagles of Carthage reached the final after thrashing Angola with 39-29 score.

They qualified for the last eight after pulling off a 28-19 victory over the Republic of Congo in the group stage matches.

Egypt also reached the semi-final after topping their group in the quarter-final following their two consecutive victories over Gabon and Angola.
