American producer Amy Pascal shared Monday a vague update about the highly-anticipated sequel to 2018's "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse".
In a statement on Monday, Pascal noted that the audience will soon get a look at the animated movie.
She also shared that the Spider-Verse might connect with other Sony superhero movies and the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Pascal added said that movie is going to be fantastic and promised Sony will have something to show on that very soon.
The sequel was confirmed by Sony before the release of the first movie but the studio didn’t reveal any plot detail.
The movie allocated over $375 million worldwide against a $90 million budget and received acclaim from critics, who praised its animation, characters, story, voice acting, and humor.
It also won Best Animated Feature at the 91st Academy Awards and was similarly successful at the 46th Annie Awards and the 76th Golden Globe Awards.
The movie was the first non-Disney/Pixar movie to win the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature since 2011's "Rango" and was also the first non-Disney/Pixar movie since 2006's "Happy Feet" to win that award when a Disney/Pixar movie was also in contention.
"Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2" will be directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson.
David Callaham co-wrote the script alongside Lord and Miller.
"Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2" is set to be released on October 7, 2022.
