Sony unveiled Tuesday the official poster for "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse" — the sequel to 2019 hit animated feature "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse".
The original movie was helmed by Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey, and Rodney Rothman from a screenplay by Phil Lord and Rothman.
It grossed over $384M worldwide and earned the 2019 Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.
"Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" followed teenage Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) became the Spider-Man of his universe and is joined by five spider-powered individuals from other dimensions to stop a threat to all realities.
The sequel will be another epic adventure transporting Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighbourhood web-slinger across the Multiverse.
He will again join forces with Gwen Stacy (Hailee Steinfeld), while working with a new team of Spider-People, to face off with a villain more powerful than anything they have ever encountered.
The cast also includes Oscar Isaac, Brian Tyree Henry, Luna Lauren Velez, Daniel Kaluuya, Jason Schwartzman, Greta Lee, Issa Rae, Rachel Dratch, Jorma Taccone, and Shea Whigham.
Justin K. Thompson, Joaquim Dos Santos, and Kemp Powers are directing the project from a script by the original’s writer-producer Phil Lord and producer Christopher Miller, as well as David Callaham.
Avi Arad, Amy Pascal, Lord, Miller, and Christina Steinberg are producing, with Ramsey, Persichetti, and Rothman returning to exec produce alongside Aditya Sood, Rebecca Karch, and Brian Bendis.
"Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse" will debut in theatres on June 2, 2023, and "Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse" bows in theatres on March 29, 2024.
