The 10th edition of the international ballet competition “Young Ballet of the World” is underway at Sochi’s Winter Theatre, bringing together talented young dancers from across the globe to honor the legacy of legendary choreographer Yuri Grigorovich.

Running from October 6 to 12, the anniversary event has drawn wide participation, with more than 100 applications received from Russia, Belarus, Brazil, Paraguay, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and other countries. Following a rigorous selection process, 70 dancers were chosen to compete before an international jury composed of acclaimed choreographers and ballet professionals.

According to TV BRICS, Russia’s Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova hailed the competition as a continuation of Grigorovich’s vision, saying it “not only preserves his artistic legacy but also helps discover new names in world ballet, offering young performers a stage to showcase their talent.”

The festival opened with a performance of Spartacus—one of Grigorovich’s most celebrated works—by the Yuri Grigorovich Krasnodar Ballet Theatre, featuring guest appearances by Bolshoi Ballet stars Anna Nikulina and Igor Tsvirko.

The event is organized by the Russian Ministry of Culture, ROSCONCERT, and the International Federation of Ballet Competitions, with TV BRICS serving as the official media partner.

Since its inception, “Young Ballet of the World” has become a key platform for nurturing the next generation of ballet artists while promoting international cultural dialogue through dance.
