Sisi Praises Museveni's Pivotal Role in Africa

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met on Thursday his Ugandan counterpart Yoweri Museveni, on the fringe of the 7th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD7), according to presidency spokesman Bassam Radi.

During the meeting, Sisi hailed the pivotal role played by Museveni, as one of Africa' wise leaders, and his sincere efforts to promote stability and security in the continent.

Moreover, the Egyptian president referred to the deep and strong historic ties between the two countries, and Egypt’s keenness to develop these relations at all levels.

 

On the other hand, Ugandan President valued Egypt key role at the regional level, praising the Egyptian companies' activities in Uganda and their contribution to development efforts.

Concerning Nile water issue, both leaders have agreed on supporting the Nile basin countries’ developmental path, and the efforts exerted to enhance relations among them in various fields, as a way to achieve the common interests and avoid harming any party.

Moreover, they discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations, especially in economy, trade and infrastructure development. The meeting also tackled latest developments in Africa, as well as the efforts exerted to counter-terrorism.

Noteworthy, Sisi is co-chairing TICAD 7 with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. TICAD 7 will run until Friday.
