TICAD7: Sisi, Japan’s Seko Discuss Economic Ties

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met earlier today, Thursday Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Hiroshigo Seko, on the sidelines of the 7th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD7), currently being held in Yokohama city.

At the outset of the meeting, Seko welcomed president Sisi in Japan, stressing on his country’s keenness to bolster joint cooperation between both countries and to encourage Japanese companies to work and invest in Egypt, in the light of the positive economic developments witnessed by the state recently.

Moreover, the Japanese official hailed measures taken by Egyptian government to attract and develop the direct foreign investments, reviewing the latest Japanese investments injected in the Egyptian market lately.

In addition, he expressed his country’s determination to continue coordination with concerned authorities in Egypt to boost economic ties between the two countries in the coming period.

On his part, the Egyptian president expressed appreciation for Japanese economy ministry‘s efforts in enhancing and supporting the economic and trade ties between Cairo and Tokyo, in order to build the capacity of Egyptian institutions working in industry and foreign trade fields.

In this regard, Sisi referred to the available promising investments in Egypt in all sectors, especially the ongoing major national projects, noting that the country is looking forward to establishing a partnership with Japan in the Egyptian national project for public transportation as well as renewable energy field.

Noteworthy, Sisi and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe co-chaired the inaugural session of TICAD 7 that kicked off on Wednesday 28/8/2019.
