President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met Sunday with the National Defense Council and discussed the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, GERD, according to Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady.
Rady said that the council tackled the overall political, security, and military situations on all strategic directions of the state, within the framework of developments of the various current challenges on the regional and international arenas.
In this context, President Sisi was briefed about the developments of the Renaissance Dam file and the current tripartite negotiating track, and the efforts to develop a comprehensive agreement that meets the aspirations and demands of Egypt, Sudan, and Ethiopia in the development and maintenance of water rights in a fair and balanced manner.
“The Council affirmed that Egypt continues to work to reach a comprehensive agreement on the outstanding issues in the Renaissance Dam issue,” he noted.
