Sisi and Sultan Haitham Stress Need to Contain Regional Tensions

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and Haitham bin Tariq stressed the importance of containing regional tensions and preventing further escalation during talks held in the Omani capital, Muscat.

President Sisi paid a short fraternal visit to the Oman, arriving from the United Arab Emirates, where Sultan Haitham personally welcomed him at the Royal Airport in Muscat.

The reception was attended by Egypt’s Ambassador to Oman, Yasser Shaaban, along with members of the Egyptian diplomatic mission in Muscat.

According to the Egyptian presidency, the two leaders held expanded talks attended by delegations from both countries, followed by a closed bilateral meeting and an official dinner in honor of the Egyptian president.

During the discussions, President Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s full solidarity and support for Oman amid ongoing regional developments, emphasizing Cairo’s commitment to preserving the stability, sovereignty, and security of Arab states.

For his part, Sultan Haitham welcomed the visit and highlighted the deep historical and strategic ties between Egypt and Oman, as well as the longstanding bonds between the two peoples.

The talks also focused on the latest regional developments, with both leaders stressing the importance of supporting diplomatic efforts to resolve the current crisis through negotiations. They warned against further escalation, saying instability in the region would have serious consequences for all parties.
