Newly-appointed state council head Mohamed Mahmoud Farag Hossam, and Attorney General Hamada Al Said Mohamed Abdel Fattah Al-Sawy swore the oath on Monday before President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

Sawy served in high-level judicial posts since 1986 and had been responsible for investigating numerous critical cases of public concern.

In a meeting following the oath, El Sisi stressed on the state’s keenness to consolidate the rule of law based on justice and equality, according to presidency official spokesman Bassam Radi.

“The President wished them success in carrying out their duties,” Radi added.

In addition, Egypt’s head of state granted the order of the republic, first class, to former head State council Chancellor Ahmed Abdel Aziz Ibrahi, Abul Al Azm, and Ex Attorney-General Chancellor Nabil Ahmed Tawfek Sadek, in recognition of his great efforts in Law enforcement, protection of justice and maintenance of society and citizens’ rights.

The council of state comprises the High Administrative Court and offers the government and parliament legal advice.

Last month, the newly appointed head of Egyptian State Lawsuits Authority (ESLA) chancellor Abu Bakr Al-Sedik Mohamed Amer Rezq swore the oath before president Sisi.

The State Lawsuits Authority is the oldest independent judicial body in Egypt, based on the protection of the rights and public money, according to its official website.
