The newly appointed head of Egyptian State Lawsuits Authority (ESLA) chancellor Abu Bakr Al-Sedik Mohamed Amer Rezq took the oath on Thursday before President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

In a meeting with Rezq following the oath, El Sisi stressed on the state’s keenness to consolidate the rule of law based on justice and equality, according to presidency official spokesman Bassam Radi.

“The President wished him success in carrying out his duties,” Radi added.

In addition, Egypt’s head of state granted the order of the republic, first class, to former head of ESLA chancellor Hussein Abdu Khalil Hamza, in recognition of his great efforts.

Noteworthy, ESLA is an Egyptian judicial institution. It was established in 1874 prior to the establishment of the Egyptian national courts in 1883.

The Authority represents the interests of the state in a variety of areas before national and international courts and arbitral tribunals. Under the applicable law, the Egyptian State Lawsuits Authority is granted the power to proceed to plead on behalf of the state even if the state itself does not like to do so and vice versa.

In general, the main mission of the ESLA is to defend the public funds and interests of the Egyptian people.

Last month, the newly appointed president of the Supreme Constitutional Court counselor Said Maree Mohamed Gad took the oath before El-Sisi.
