Dr. Ibrahim Negm, Senior Advisor to the Grand Mufti of Egypt and Secretary-General of the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide, delivered a keynote address at the BRICS Religious Leaders’ Summit in Brazil, stressing that the world is at a critical turning point due to wars, conflicts, and the erosion of moral values. He warned of the growing tide of hate speech and extremism and underscored the urgent need for strong ethical frameworks to regulate artificial intelligence so it serves humanity rather than undermining its values.

Dr. Negm emphasized that the real solution lies in returning to the spiritual and moral foundations of religion, reminding participants that religious institutions have long been the guardians of the moral compass. He highlighted that the Prophet’s birthday offers a renewed call to embrace mercy, justice, and tolerance, and pointed to Egypt’s leadership through its major religious institutions in advancing moderation, countering extremism, and strengthening international cooperation via the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide.

Concluding his speech, Dr. Negm affirmed that the shared mission of religious leaders is to uphold peace, mercy, and mutual respect, while rejecting any exploitation of religion to destabilize global security and harmony.
