SCZone: Arish Port Receives "Topaz Moskova” Carrier for Power Station Support

Al-Arish port received the Heavy load carrier “Topaz Moskova”, which came from Damietta port, loaded with equipment and supplies for Al-Arish steam power station, as part of the renewal and support of the station for the operation with a capacity of 320 megawatts, in order to serve North Sinai Governorate.

For the first time since its re-operation in January 2021, Al- Arish port received this kind of ships with a tonnage of 3500 tons of equipment that unloaded on the Berth.

“All the necessary preparations have been taken to receive this type of ships in Al-Arish port that is affiliated to Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), as the cranes, vehicles, and the berths are prepared for unloading heavy equipment and storing them inside the port yards.

In addition to the coordination between the port and the other authorities to receive the ship and facilitate all procedures, as the equipment (turbines) will be used for raising the efficiency and enhancing the electrical capacity of Al-Arish station to serve the city.”

Yehia Zaki Chairman of SCZONE declared “SCZONE’s ports are receiving different kind of vessels within the framework of our vision to develop affiliated ports as part of the new republic’s strategy in developing Egyptian ports.

"We also appreciate the significant role, which was done by the energy sector of Hassan Allam Holding company as a main contractor for the power station,” Zaki added.

“Al- Arish steam power station is currently operating with a capacity of 70 megawatts, today, we received 2 gas turbines with a load of 450 tons and related supplies with a load of 50 tons to elevate the electrical efficiency to 320 megawatts, as part of the Egyptian state’s plan to raise the efficiency of electricity networks in north Sinai.”

Mohamed Amr, site manager at Hassan Allam Company said that Al-Arish port is witnessing ongoing development works for new berths, the first with a length of 250 meters, with a completion rate of 90%, to be delivered by the end of this year. The length of the second berth is 915 meters, as well as the implementation of a breakwater with a length of 1250 meters, where the implementation rates reached 90%, and these works are carried out by several Egyptian national companies.
