Egyptian billionaire Naguib Sawiris said that the revenues of the Euronews network plunged by around 30-40% after ads dropped due to the repercussions of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

Sawiris added during his interview with Sky News, that this matter is currently being remedied with employees of the network to face these losses.

He pointed out that the economic injuries are very severe, and this situation is not only in Egypt but, also in all countries worldwide, and therefore we will need a long time to restore the situation before corona ends.

It is noteworthy that Sawiris increased his stake in the network from 53% to 60% in 2017.

The businessman also said earlier that citizens cannot be imprisoned for years at home, asking: "Are we, going to bear this".

He added that  fears of employees returning to work can be overcome by sterilizing places and commitment to social distancing as well as a continuous medical examination for citizens.
