Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Defence, Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, held a phone conversation with Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi, Chief of Staff of Iran’s Armed Forces, to discuss bilateral defence relations, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The two officials explored ways to enhance military and defence cooperation between Riyadh and Tehran, marking another step forward in the ongoing thaw in relations between the two regional powers.
The call also included a review of the latest developments in the region, with both sides stressing the importance of continuing efforts to maintain regional security and stability.
This rare public communication underscores the growing momentum in Saudi-Iranian diplomacy following the restoration of diplomatic ties in 2023. It reflects mutual interest in building trust and preventing further escalation across conflict-prone areas in the Middle East.
