Saudi Arabia and Pakistan urged international efforts to stop Israeli military operations in Gaza and mitigate their humanitarian repercussions.

This came in a joint statement issued after the meeting of Saudi Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and Pakistani Prime Minister (PM) Mohammed Shahbaz Sharif on Monday.

The meeting witnessed an exchange of views on regional and global developments of common interest , including the disturbing situation in the Gaza Strip.

The statement explained that the two sides discussed the necessity of advancing the peace process in accordance with the relevant Security Council and General Assembly resolutions, as well as Arab Peace Initiative aimed at finding a just and comprehensive solution to establish an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Discussions during the meeting also focused on ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries in various sectors, where the Kingdom’s role in supporting Pakistani economy and the mutual desire to enhance trade and investment relations were emphasized.

Moreover, both sides stressed the importance of dialogue between Pakistan and India to resolve the outstanding issues between the two countries, especially the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, to ensure peace and stability in the region.
