Liverpool made an ideal start to the 2019-20 season by defeating Norwich City in the opening game of the Premier League 4-1 on Friday.

Norwich's defender Grant Hanley's own goal put the Reds ahead after forward Divock Origi fired in a fairly innocuous low cross that Hanley seemed certain to clear, but he got himself in a muddle and shanked it back into his own net from six yards.

Liverpool star Mo Salah doubled the scoring in the 19th minute after he unleashed a right-foot shot from six yards.

Van Dijk cemented his side's lead when the iconic Egyptian star delivered a perfect cross and the defender planted a downward header into the net from seven yards. Origi added the fourth in the 41st minute after he flicked a header into Norwich's net from 12 yards.

Pukki restored some dignity for Norwich after he produced a perfect finish in the 64th minute, scoring the first goal for his side.

Next, Liverpool will take on Chelsea on Wednesday, August 14 in the UEFA Super Cup, after that they will resume their adventure in the Premier League against Southampton on Saturday, August 17.

It is worth mentioning that the Reds claimed the UEFA Champions League title after defeating Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in June.
