The Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Egypt Mr. Hong Jinwook Korean Ambassador expressed his happiness with his recent “enjoyable” visit to Luxor in respect of the Avenue of Sphinxes event.

Korean Ambassador took this occasion to confer words of praise upon the Egyptian government and also he expressed his gratitude to the officials of the ceremony for their excellent leadership in organizing this timely and significant ceremony.

In a statement, the Korean Ambassador in Cairo said: "I decided to appoint myself as the honorary Egyptian cultural Ambassador to Korea, having seen the event the night before.  I will encourage more and more Korean citizens to come to Egypt and to taste all those merits of the land, culture, and people."

"That will surely lead into much stronger relations between Korea and Egypt by enhancing people-to-people understanding," he noted.

Mr. Hong made these remarks after attending the reopening ceremony of the ancient Avenue of Sphinxes (Kebash Road) in Luxor on Thursday 25, November.

In a bid to promote Egyptian tourism, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities has invited foreign ambassadors in Egypt and a number of public figures to attend the ceremony.

Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, Mr. Hong Jinwook was one of those who were invited to attend and witness the historic reopening of the 2.7km-long ancient Avenue of Sphinxes in Luxor, but surely was most remarkably impressed with the historic moments.

He documented his visit by taking pictures and publishing them on his social media platforms.

The high-ranking official also took this occasion to express his gratitude to the Egyptian people for their ever-growing interests in the so-called Korean Wave; music, films, and dramas just to name a few.

It's noteworthy to mention that the Korean drama "Squid Game" recently became a great hit all around the world including Egypt.

Despite the awful pandemic, the Korean official has regularly and officially expressed his interest in attending, as a guest and partner, the Egyptian national cultural activities and ceremonies.

The Ambassador has been trying his best to travel as much as possible in this gorgeous country, starting from Alexandria, Portseid, Ismailia, El Gouna, and down to Aswan and Abu Simbel, according to a statement released by the South Korean Embassy in Cairo.
