Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds is attached to star in the live-action/animation hybrid movie "Animal Friends" at Legendary.
Jason Momoa, Vince Vaughn, and Aubrey Plaza will also star in the movie.
While the plot details for the project are being kept under wraps, however, it is described as an R-rated road trip adventure.
Emmy-winning director Peter Atencio is helming the pic from a script by Kevin Burrows and Matt Mider. The idea for the movie came from a general meeting between Burrows, Mider, and Patrick Gooing, an executive at Reynolds’ production company, Maximum Effort.
Legendary will produce the movie alongside Reynolds’ production company Maximum Effort and Prime Focus Studios. Visual effects and animation will be provided by the leading visual entertainment services company, DNEG.
Reynolds, who most recently appeared in the Apple holiday musical “Spirited” alongside Will Ferrell, is returning as the Merc with a Mouth for "Deadpool 3", which is shooting this summer.
The Critics Choice Award winner is also set for the Paramount comedy Boy Band, among many other projects.
Reynolds has also been busy away from the movie set as the owner of the Welsh soccer team Wrexham AFC, whose underdog story is being told in the ongoing Hulu docuseries “Welcome to Wrexham”.
