Two drones flying from the direction of Ukraine hit a large Russian oil refinery near the border on Wednesday, sending flames and smoke into the sky and prompting the plant to suspend production.
"The first drone was bombed at 8.40 am and hit an oil distillation unit, causing an explosion and fire," the Novoshakhtinsk oil refinery said.

A second strike was aimed at crude oil tanks at the refinery, the largest supplier of oil products in southern Russia, but it did not cause a fire, the plant said, adding that no one was hurt.
The workers were evacuated and technological equipment stopped to assess the damage.”
Footage on social media showed a drone flying towards the refinery, which is located just 8 Km from the border with Ukraine, before a large ball of flame rose, sparking jeers from near the camera.
