The Russian House celebrated on Wednesday 80 years of Egyptian-Russian relations, coinciding with the BRICS Summit and to emphasize the strength and solidity of the close relations between Egypt and Russia.
Murad Gattin, Director of the Russian Cultural Centers in Egypt said that Egypt and Russia have strong and ongoing relations due to the wise leadership of Presidents Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, as well as the Egyptian and Russian peoples, who support strengthening joint projects such as in the Dabaa project, in addition to the increase in the volume of trade exchange between the two countries.
The director added that the celebration coincides with the BRICS Summit, which comes at a sensitive time in the Arab world.
During the celebration, the Russian Cultural Center in Cairo screened a documentary film about Egypt entitled "Jusur" between Cairo and Moscow, which included scenes from both countries and the opinions of the two peoples about the culture and history of the two friendly countries, on the occasion of the BRICS Summit, which is being held in the city of Kazan.
In the documentary, Russia's iconic journalist and TV Presenter Anna Knishenko presented scenes from various Egyptian governorates, with Cairo and Giza having the largest share due to the presence of the pyramids, the Egyptian Museum, Khan El-Khalili and many other tourist sites.
The scenes also included reports on the Nile in Aswan, other tourist cities such as Alexandria, Hurghada, Nubia and its precious heritage, as well as Luxor and the Aswan High Dam, which was completed with Russian help in 1970.
The film also showed the struggle of the city of Port Said and the Russian city of Volgrad, and the naming of the squares of each city with the same name in solidarity to end colonialism in Egypt, and the elimination of Nazism at the hands of the Soviet Union.
It is noteworthy that Knishenko was born in the Russian city of Kursk, and graduated from the Peoples' Friendship University in Moscow. She is known as one of the best Arabic-speaking broadcasters in Russia.
