The mayor of Novorossiysk, Andrey Kravchenko, has declared a state of emergency in the Russian city on the Black Sea after wildfires spread across a 22-hectare area.
High temperatures, strong winds, and dry thunderstorms have contributed to the outbreak of wildfires across Russia in recent weeks, affecting areas from the Tuva region in Siberia to the Sakha Republic in the Far East.
Photos shared by Kravchenko on Telegram show firefighters battling the blazes and vast stretches of charred land and trees.
He stated that buses have been prepared to evacuate around 200 people from high-risk areas, and helicopters are being deployed to help extinguish the fires.
This emergency declaration highlights the severe impact of the wildfires, emphasizing the urgent need for coordinated efforts to manage and control the situation.
The local authorities are working tirelessly to protect residents and minimize damage to the environment.
