Senior UEFA officials are reportedly backing Dariusz Mioduski as a potential challenger to FIFA president Gianni Infantino in the governing body's next presidential election.

According to reports, support is growing within European football for the Polish businessman and former Legia Warsaw owner to contest the FIFA presidency when Infantino's current mandate expires in 2027.

Infantino has led FIFA since 2016 and was re-elected in 2023, overseeing the organization's global expansion, including the 48-team 2026 FIFA World Cup hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.

However, concerns surrounding governance and transparency during his tenure have fueled discussions about potential alternatives, with Mioduski emerging as one of the names attracting support from senior UEFA figures.

Although no official candidacy has been announced, and Mioduski has yet to outline any election platform, the growing backing within UEFA suggests preparations for the 2027 FIFA presidential race are already underway.

UEFA represents one of the largest voting blocs within FIFA's 211-member Congress, making European support a potentially decisive factor in any future presidential election.
