CAIRO, SEPT 9 (SEE)- Governor of the Red Sea Ahmed Abdullah held a press conference on Saturday with the Serbian media delegation visiting Hurghada to promote tourism in Egypt.
The delegation included 17 journalists from major Serbia newspapers and television channels.
Abdullah pointed out that Red Sea airports are capable of receiving 15 million passengers annually, in addition to the establishment of a new Berenice Airport south of Marsa Alam, and two large ports capable of receiving giant cruise ships.
He added that the governorate is raising the efficiency of roads and infrastructure to facilitate movement of tourists.
He stressed that the Governorate enjoys a pollution free environment and a preserved ecosystem due to the use of solar energy and wind power.
"The Red Sea governorate has the largest desalination plant in Egypt and the Middle East with a capacity of 80 thousand cubic meters per day," he pointed out.
He emphasized that the governorate has 265 tourist resorts, including 82 thousand hotel rooms, in addition to resorts under construction.
The governor called on the delegation to convey facts to the Serbian people. "Some foreign media are trying to distort the image of Egypt, he said.
The governor is expected to visit Belgrade next month to conclude an agreement with the Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs. The agreement will include the establishment of a direct flight between the cities of Hurghada and Belgrade.
