Real Madrid Sign Cucurella from Chelsea in Major Summer Transfer Deal

Real Madrid have officially announced the signing of Spanish left-back Marc Cucurella from Chelsea, marking one of the standout moves of the summer transfer window as the club strengthens its defensive options for the coming seasons.

In a statement released on Monday, the Spanish giants confirmed that an agreement had been reached with Chelsea for the transfer of the 27-year-old defender, who has signed a six-year contract at the Santiago Bernabéu. 

Cucurella will remain with Real Madrid until 30 June 2032, underlining the club’s long-term planning for its squad rebuild.

The deal is reported to be worth around €60 million, including €5 million in performance-related add-ons. 

While neither club officially disclosed financial details, sources close to the negotiations described the agreement as a significant investment in experience and versatility on the left flank.

Real Madrid described Cucurella’s arrival as part of their continued strategy to reinforce the squad with established international talent. 

The club expressed confidence in the defender’s ability to adapt quickly to La Liga, citing his experience in both the Premier League and on the international stage with Spain.

Chelsea, meanwhile, confirmed the departure of Cucurella in their own statement, thanking the player for his contribution since joining from Brighton in 2022. 

During his time at Stamford Bridge, he played a key role in the club’s successes, including winning the UEFA Europa Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup.

The London club also highlighted Cucurella’s continued development at international level, noting his involvement in Spain’s UEFA Euro 2024 triumph as a key moment in his career. 

Chelsea officials wished him well for the next chapter of his journey in Spain.

Cucurella’s move marks a return to La Liga after several seasons in England, where he established himself as a dynamic and aggressive full-back. 

His ability to contribute both defensively and offensively is expected to provide Real Madrid with additional depth and competition in the squad.
