Ragheb Alama & More to Celebrate Salah El Sharnoby in Saudi Arabia on Jan. 18

Egyptian iconic composer and musician Salah El Sharnouby will be celebrated in a star-studded event in Saudi Arabia, on Thursday, January 18.

The event is held under the title "Composition of Salah El Sharnouby" and will take place at the Abu Bakr Salem Stage at Riyadh Boulevard City.

The evening will feature performances by Nancy Ajram, Ragheb Alama, Wael Jassar, Asma Lamnawar, and Assala.

El Sharnoubi was born on December 29, 1957, in the Anfushi neighborhood in Alexandria and graduated from the Faculty of Engineering at Alexandria University in 1979.

Since childhood, he has been interested in music and musicians. He was very fond — like the rest of the Alexandrians — of Alexandrian folk music and its instruments, especially the accordion.

His musical talent blossomed in the city of Alexandria, El Sharnoubi did not study music in academies, he taught himself to learn to play the violin, then moved on to play the oud, followed by writing musical notes.

After graduation, El Sharnoubi practiced work as a mechanical engineer until 1990, after which he settled in Cairo and devoted himself to music making.

He composed for many famous Arab singers including Warda, Nagat, Wadih El Safi, Mayada El Hennawy, Aida el Ayoubi, Samira Said, George Wassouf, Zekra, Medhat Saleh, Elissa, Latifa, Assala, Hany Shaker, Ragheb Alama, Nawal El Zoghbi, Ali El Haggar, Hisham Abbas, Ehab Tawfik, and Diana Haddad.
