NBC has greenlighted the sequel pilot to the 1989 time-travel TV series "Quantum Leap" that ran for five seasons on the network.

The project will take place in 30 years of the time travel adventure of Dr. Sam Beckett (Scott Bakula) who had stepped into the Quantum Leap accelerator and vanished.

It is centered around a new team being assembled to restart the project in the hopes of understanding the mysteries behind the machine and the man who created it.

Creator Don Bellisario is on board as executive producer along with Deborah Pratt and Martin Gero. Steven Lilien and Bryan Wynbrandt are set to serve as showrunners.

The series will be produced by Universal Television. Only a pilot has been ordered so far, and if successful the project will be up for series consideration next year.
