In a dazzling tribute to nearly two centuries of medical education, the iconic dome of Qasr Al-Aini was illuminated last night to celebrate the 198th anniversary of Egypt’s first medical school.
Established in 1827, the Qasr Al-Aini Faculty of Medicine has been a cornerstone of medical training and healthcare in the country.
The lighting ceremony, attended by officials, faculty members, and students, highlighted the institution’s rich history and its role in shaping generations of doctors. Since its founding under the leadership of Clot Bey during the reign of Mohamed Ali Pasha, the school has been instrumental in advancing medical knowledge and healthcare services in Egypt and the Arab world.
“This celebration is not just about history; it’s about looking forward,” said a representative from the faculty. “Qasr Al-Aini continues to lead in medical research, education, and innovation.”
The event also included a series of lectures and exhibitions showcasing the school’s contributions to medicine, as well as honoring distinguished alumni who have made significant impacts in the field.
As Qasr Al-Aini nears its 200th anniversary, the celebration reaffirmed its commitment to excellence in medical education and healthcare for future generations.
