Putin: Egypt One of Russia's "Most Important" Trading Partners in Africa

Russian President Vladimir Putin affirmed that Egypt is one of Russia's most important trading partners in Africa, noting that relations between the two countries are developing tangibly and successfully at all levels.

During the joint Russian-Egyptian summit, attended by President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, Friday, in Moscow, President Putin stated that there is multifaceted cooperation based on the comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation agreement between Russia and Egypt. 

He noted the active and ongoing political dialogue between the two countries.

He added that trade between Egypt and Russia reached 30% last year and increased by 8% this year, while joint government committees between the two countries have been active, as major joint projects continue to be implemented.

He highlighted the Egyptian-Russian coordination on important international issues. Addressing the President, he said, "We are pleased and honored, Mr. President, to discuss with you these issues and other trends in Russian-Egyptian cooperation."
