Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi stressed the need for the international community to take urgent action to push for a ceasefire, pointing to the extremely serious humanitarian situation, as well as the widespread destruction in the Gaza Strip, which requires a firm international stance aimed at stopping the bloodshed, enforcing humanitarian aid, and providing opportunities for political solutions.

In a phone call with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, Sisi reviewed Egypt’s efforts on the humanitarian track to bring in aid to alleviate the suffering of the people of the Gaza Strip. He also discussed Egypt’s efforts to receive a number of critical cases to be treated in Egyptian hospitals.

This comes in addition to Egyptian efforts to stop the escalation and create conditions for launching a political process to revive the peace process and implement the two-state solution. The Dutch prime minister appreciated these efforts and thanked President Sisi for Egypt’s role in evacuating foreign nationals from the strip, coordinating and delivering humanitarian aid, and pushing for peace and stability in the region.
