President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi congratulated the Egyptian Al-Ahly team for winning the African Champions League title, after its victory over Esperance of Tunisia.
President Sisi wrote in his account on the “X” platform: “I congratulate Al-Ahly Club on its wonderful victory today. Distinguished performance and wonderful efforts deserve all appreciation.”
Al-Sisi added: “All my greetings to the fans of Al-Ahly Club and to all Egyptians, and we wish more success and achievements in the future. I also extend my greetings of appreciation to the honorable performance of the brotherly Tunisian team.”
On Saturday evening, the Egyptian club Al-Ahly, the defending champion, was able to strengthen its record for the number of titles in the African Champions League football competition.
Al-Ahly raised its titles to 12 titles by defeating its guest Esperance of Tunisia 1-0 on Saturday at Cairo International Stadium in front of approximately 60,000 spectators in the second leg of the final round.
This is the second title for Al-Ahly at the expense of Esperance after 2012, while the Tunisian team was crowned at the expense of the “Egyptian Genie” in 2018.
