Yahya Elwathik Bellah, Minister Plenipotentiary, First Undersecretary- Head of the Egyptian Commercial Service said that Egypt is working on completing the adoption of the standards for American cars, as a meeting was held and its results are being followed up.
This came in an arary held Tuesday by PM Mustafa Madbouly to follow up efforts to support and strengthen aspects of Egyptian-American economic cooperation, in the presence of Ahmed Kouchouk Minister of Finance, and FM Bader Abdel-Ati.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Prime Minister referred to the government's interest in developing Egyptian-American relations, in implementation of the directives of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi in this regard, and welcomed the launch of holding an investment forum or conference with the United States.
The Prime Minister directed the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade to work on the implementation of this proposal, with the need to identify the various problems facing American companies operating in Egypt, to work on their speedy solution.
He also directed the importance of listing various projects and development cooperation programs with the American side, especially in the field of technical support, with the aim of taking decisions and steps on moving forward in starting their implementation and applying them on the ground.
Abdel-Ati pointed out that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already listed the cooperation programs with the United States, and the signing and implementation of a number of those programs have begun, noting that in coordination with the Ministry of Transport, work has begun to facilitate the adoption of standards and requirements for American cars, in accordance with the rules in force in this regard.
The minister also pointed to the new mechanism represented by the “Economic Relations Commission” between the two countries.
He stressed the need to quickly hold a meeting with American companies operating in Egypt to listen to their proposals on ways to support relations between the two sides and work to end the various obstacles they face in the Egyptian market.
He also directed the importance of following up various aspects of economic cooperation with the U.S., and the need to communicate with the American Chamber of Commerce to coordinate on supporting economic cooperation and holding a joint investment conference.
