The Palestinian technocratic committee for the administration of the Gaza Strip held its first meeting in the Egyptian capital on Friday, according to Cairo News Channel, which is close to the authorities.
The committee, made up of 15 Palestinian figures, was formed on Wednesday after Washington announced the implementation of the second phase of its plan to end the war in Gaza. The committee is expected to temporarily manage the Strip under the supervision of a “Peace Council” led by U.S. President Donald Trump.
The committee’s chairman, Ali Shaath, a Palestinian civil engineer, stated that “housing is very important after more than 85 percent of homes in Gaza have been destroyed,” adding, “Therefore, we are essentially relying on the Egyptian-Arab-Islamic plan that has been adopted, which sets clear frameworks for relief, infrastructure, and housing.”
