Today, Wednesday, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas made a phone call with Irish Prime Minister Simon Harris, in which he thanked him for his country’s courageous and principled positions in recognizing the State of Palestine, stressing that this great step will contribute to strengthening peace, justice, and the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination, and promoting the implementation of a political solution on the basis of international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
The Palestinian President expressed his hope that this step taken by Ireland, Spain and Norway would be would pave the way to recognition by more European countries.
Abu Mazen reiterated the need to stop the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
