The Pakistani Ambassador to Egypt Aamer Shaukat was among the prominent foreign envoys who attended the third edition of the Ismailia Mango Festival 2025, an event that blended cultural pride with international diplomacy.
The festival, held in the heart of one of Egypt’s most fertile governorates, showcased the region’s celebrated mango harvest and growing role in global agricultural trade.
Governor Akram Mohamed Galal welcomed the diplomatic delegation at the historic Governorate Headquarters on Mohamed Ali Street, alongside Ashraf Sobhi, Egypt’s Minister of Youth and Sports, and Mohamed El-Zamlout, Governor of the New Valley.
Envoys and consular representatives hailed from countries including Sierra Leone, China, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, the European Union, Norway, Kuwait, Uzbekistan, Latvia, Sweden, India, Malaysia, Japan, the Czech Republic, Indonesia, Turkey, and the Philippines, with the Pakistani Ambassador receiving special acknowledgment during the reception.
Also present were Osama Rabie, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority; Ahmed Essam, Deputy Governor of Ismailia; Mohamed Amer, Director of Ismailia Security; and MP Ahmed Dendash.
Governor Galal emphasized Ismailia’s agricultural prominence, producing over 720,000 tons of mango annually on nearly 120,000 feddans, representing more than 36% of Egypt’s total mango cultivation. “Our mangoes are exported to 50 countries, including Saudi Arabia, the Gulf, Turkey, and Brazil,” he said, noting exports this year of 26,000 tons of fresh fruit and 55,000 tons of processed products.
Ambassadors praised the event as a model for agricultural promotion and cultural exchange, with the Pakistani envoy highlighting Egypt’s potential as a key trade partner in tropical fruits.
The festival concluded with an invitation from the governor for guests to explore Ismailia’s tourist attractions, reinforcing the city’s status as a hub for both agriculture and hospitality.
