The United Nations has reported that more than 28,000 people have been affected by severe flooding in Yemen's Hajjah province in the past few hours.
According to a tweet from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) on Monday, heavy rains and resulting floods have impacted over 28,000 individuals in four districts of Hajjah province since last night.
The UNFPA noted that its Rapid Response Mechanism teams are actively conducting assessments and providing aid. So far, the teams have registered over 4,112 families for emergency relief assistance.
Yemen's rainy season begins in March, often bringing significant human and material losses to a country already struggling with severely weakened infrastructure and public services.
The ongoing conflict and humanitarian crisis in Yemen exacerbate the difficulties in responding to natural disasters, making the situation even more dire for those affected.
