Oculists Conduct 500 Operations Weekly under "Long Live Egypt” Fund

Oculists of Medical Convoys launched within  the presidential initiative named” Nour Hayat” continues  medical examination to spot causes of declining of sight and blindness in governorates of Al Sharqia, Beni Suif, Fayoum, Al Gharbia, Mynofia, Dementia and Kafr El Sheikh.

The first  stage of that initiative comprises 15 governorates in the Suez Canal region, Delta, Middle Egypt and the Red Sea.

Tamer Abdel Fattah, Acting CEO of Long Live Egypt (LLEF), said that the presidential initiative seeks to introduce medical examination to 147 thousand people, provide them with spectacles, treatment and conducting operations to them.

He added that oculists of the medical convoys receive around 1000 people on Thursday and Friday every for examination.

Patients who need surgeries are referred to seven hospitals run by the Armed Forces.

Those hospitals conduct 500 operations on Thursday and Friday per week.

Abdel Fattah made clear that the presidential initiative is carried out in cooperation with the Armed Forces and Ministry of Interior.

Also both Ministries of Education and Health along the World Health Organization (WHO) take part in implementing the presidential initiative.

A number of civil society non-profit groups joined the presidential initiative.

On the other hand, more than 5 million pupils of primary state-run schools across the country will be examined through four stages.

A million spectacles will be supplied freely to those suffer from sight disorders.

About 10% to 20% of pupils in primary schools suffer from sight disorders.

Officials of the presidential initiative coordinate with governors of those governorate to implement the presidential initiative to remove obstacles.

The WHO provides technical support and medical staffs to support officials of the initiative.

LLEF also provided five mobile units to sustain the medical teams in remote areas in governorates of Alexandria, Al Sharqia, Mynia, Qena and Luxor.

Every unit has sets of examining level of sight to secure medical examination.

It is worth mentioning that LLEF has opened special account NO. 037037 to receive donations and run a hot line No. 15115 to answer questions  of citizens.
