Norway announced on Wednesday, that it will donate three long-range multiple-launch missile systems to Ukraine, following a similar decision by the United States (US), United Kingdom (UK), and Germany.
In a statement, Norwegian Defense Minister Björn Arild Gram said the donation was made possible, thanks to the close cooperation between Norway and UK.
"We must continue our support to help Ukrainians in their struggle for freedom and independence," the minister added.
It is worth mentioing that, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that more than 40 countries provide military support to Ukraine against the Russian invasion.
“U.S. security assistance and that of more than 40 Allies and partners continue to strengthen Ukraine’s position to defend its independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity,” Blinken said in a statement on Wednesday.
According to the US secretary, this contributes to securing Ukraine’s victories on the battlefield, as well as strengthening its position at the negotiating table.
Blinken indicated that the total value of the aid that was sent to Ukraine since the beginning of the Russian military operation amounted to more than $5.6 billion.
US President Joe Biden informed his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyy that Washington is prepared to send Kyiv a new package of aid worth $1 billion, in addition to humanitarian aid worth $225 million.
Previously, The US State Department said that Washington is prepared to provide $1.5 billion per month to support the Ukrainian government.
This was announced by Dereck Hogan, the principal deputy assistant secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs on Monday at a conference at the Woodrow Wilson Center in Washington.
According to the US official, the United States should “think in the medium and long term” about how to help Ukraine.
He pointed out that to help Ukraine in the medium term, the efforts of the US are focused, especially on maintaining the continuity of the Ukrainian government.
