New Updates Regarding El Roumi-Kimaera Dispute Revealed

The dispute between figurative Lebanese icon Majida El Roumi and the Lebanese Metal band Kimaera is still on fire, especially after the coming of new facts on the surface.

Trending Lebanese social media show "El 3ama" has posted an interesting review about the incident refuting El Roumi's copyright claims.

According to the show, Kimaera band has contacted El Roumi's management via her daughter and they managed to get a "gentleman agreement" with El Roumi and her daughter.

Then, after airing the music video, El Roumi rejected the contemporary Metal version of the song. At the same time, It was reported that El Roumi has filed a lawsuit against the band.

In the same context, various rising independent musical acts accused El Roumi of destroying the independent music talents after involving such a Lebanese talent as Kimaera in a legal issue.

Moreover, the band mentioned that the original copyrights of the song belong to El Roumi and they mentioned that in the credits of the music video according to the show.

It is worthy to mention that El Roumi expressed her objection against any illegal use of her copyrights without previous request referring to Kimaera's cover of El Roumi's song "Ya Beirut."

In addition, she asserted her rejection of the music video the band issued of the cover.

Describing it as an “abusing” and “racist” music video, El Roumi explained that the cover was a destructive work for such a beautiful song.

Kimaera is one of the most celebrated Metal bands in the Middle East; in addition, they are widely internationally recognized.

Founded in 2000, the band’s music is a combination of symphonic riffs and death metal melodies with slight mixing of oriental music.
