Hisham Okasha, Chairman of the National Bank of Egypt (NBE) said on Sunday that the volume of withdrawals from the bank's ATM machines, which numbers more than 4,500, amounted to about EGP 7.5 billion during the period from last Sunday, until yesterday.

The amount of withdrawals confirms that the NBE is able to meet the needs of citizens from cash for Eid al-Fitr, pointing out that there is a regular feeding of the ATM machines.

The Chairman of the National Bank added the first day of Eid al-Fitr witnessed an increase in the withdrawals from ATMs, to cover citizens demands, especially as the vacation period extends to about 9 days.

Meantime, the alternative to cash is dealing in electronic payments through cards of all kinds, and QR-codes.

Okasha pointed out that the bank eased cash withdrawals through the spread of banks' ATMs and the cancellation of withdrawal fees for clients and external banks' transactions.
