N. Korean Leader Inspects Kusong Hospital Project

On September 8, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and President of State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, provided on-site guidance for the hospital construction project in Kusong City.  

He was accompanied during this inspection by Jo Yong Won, Jo Chang Il, Kim Jae Ryong, Kim Yong Su, and other senior officials of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea.  

Comrade Kim Jong Un listened to a report from relevant officials on the progress of construction works.  

He highly praised the efforts of the builders who are achieving remarkable success in the construction of the hospital in the local area, in line with the Central Committee of the Party’s consistent struggle to give top priority to building model hospitals in cities and counties. This initiative, declared as part of the first year of the Public Health Revolution, is seen as the core foundation for enhancing the overall health system of the country.  

Comrade Kim Jong Un inspected a number of hospital departments and reviewed the progress of implementation.  

He stated that building the hospital in the local area, as the first step of the great revolution to transform healthcare facilities across the nation, is a highly responsible task to ensure that the local population enjoys advanced medical services of a quality equal to that of the capital. He emphasized that this marks a real and qualitative transformation for the localities, eagerly anticipated by the Party, and a highly important step in accelerating the building of a civilized, prosperous, and powerful state.  

He added that the Public Health Revolution, conducted in parallel with the ongoing Local Industry Revolution nationwide, is an urgent priority that will inject fresh vitality into socialist public health. In this process, the absolute principle of the state must be embodied—subordinating and directing everything to improving the health and enhancing the well-being of the people. He also pointed out certain shortcomings observed in the construction process.  

Comrade Kim Jong Un stressed that all systems and facilities of the hospital must be harmonized scientifically, functionally, practically, and aesthetically, reflecting his views on important issues arising in the final stage of construction.  

He particularly underlined the need for thorough preparations to responsibly manage the hospital since its construction has now entered the final phase, and he set forth comprehensive tasks for its official opening.
