An 89-year-old Moroccan woman has died after contracting the new coronavirus, the country’s first death from the rapidly spreading disease outbreak, according to Morocco’s health ministry.

In a statement, the ministry said that the dead patient, who entered from Italy’s Bologna, suffered from respiratory and heart diseases.

Earlier on Tuesday, Moroccan authorities confirmed a new coronavirus case, bringing the total number to three infected cases.

On March 2, the Arab country reported its first infected coronavirus case to a citizen, who came from Italy.

Morocco’s airline Royal Air Maroc “RAM” had decided to temporarily suspend flights to and from Italy’s Venice and Milan cities until further notes amid Coronavirus outbreak.

Morocco’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has launched a hotline number to keep in contact with the Moroccan community residing in Italy, estimated to half-million immigrants.

It is worth mentioning that, Italy’s government decided on Monday to suspend all sports events in Italy, including all matches in Serie A, until April 3.

In a press conference, the country’s prime minister Giuseppe Conte announced the suspension of all sports events in the European state, but the decision will not be implemented on the Italian clubs or national teams participating in international competitions.

The virus spread across Italy with over 7,000 confirmed cases and more than 450 deaths.

Italy had taken many precautionary measures before as it suspended the schools and all crowded events in the country.

It also banned anyone from entering or leaving the European country.
