“Al-Nahar” channel announced on Saturday the suspension of the “New Republic” program, as well as the suspension of the program’s presenter Mona El-Omda from her work, and referring her, the work team and those responsible for the program for investigation.
The channel said in a statement, "It detected some errors and transgression in one of the last episodes of the program, and decided to stop it until it is returned to the right track or cancel it permanently."
It affirmed its constant keenness to provide professional content that befits audience, according to what is decided by professional work codes from the Regulatory Media Authority.
The decision to stop the "New Republic" program came after videos of the program were circulated on social media, especially in one of the episodes in which El-Omda discussed the importance of the Administrative Capital with one of her guests.
It became clear through the comments of citizens on the videos circulated that the way she spoke to the guest and the tone of her voice was not appropriate for media work, according to the authority's officials.
