Mohamed Salah Ranked 5th in Ballon d’Or

Liverpool Star Mohamed Salah smashed a new record in his glorious career after being ranked fifth in Ballon d’Or.

Three African players have made the Ballon D’Or top ten; Riyad Mahrez, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah. 

Salah did not attend the Ballon d’Or ceremony, currently held at “Théâtre du Châtelet” in Paris, France. Several reports claimed that Lionel Messi would be the winner of this prestigious award.

Last year, Barcelona midfielder Luka Modric won the 2018 prestigious award, ending seven years of dominance by Ronaldo and Messi.

The iconic Egyptian star took the fourth spot in the best FIFA player of the year rankings, preceded by Virgil van Dijk and Cristiano Ronaldo, while Argentine Lionel Messi won the best FIFA player of the year award.

Salah had been chosen among the 50-man shortlist, who were nominated for the Uefa ”Team of the Year 2019.”

The team will be chosen through a vote on Uefa’s official website, and the best team will be announced on January 9.

On November 24, the 27-year-old was selected among the nominees for the ‘’African Player of the Year’’ Award.

Noteworthy, he scooped the ‘’African Player of the Year’’ Award. last season after an intense competition with the Senegalese Sadio Mane and the Gabon International Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
