Lieutenant General Osama Rabie, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority (SCA), said Friday that the new dredger "Mohab Mamish", the latest and largest dredge in the Middle East, is expected to arrive on board the heavy transport ship XIANG RUI KOU for the Port Said Dive area this evening in preparation for crossing the Suez Canal tomorrow.

Rabie added that the procedures for separating the dredger from the ship will be carried out under the supervision and follow-up of the Suez Canal Authority and in full coordination with the ship's crew and the experts of the Dutch IHC Shipyard.

Then, the SCA's tugs will move and tow the dredger in the navigational course.

It is worth noting that the dredger “Mohab Mamish” is the latest newcomer to the authority’s fleet of dredges.

This comes in fulfillment of the directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to maximize the SCA's assets as well as develop and modernize its fleet of dredgers and marine units as per its 2023 strategy.

Mohab Mamish Dredger stands at an overall length of 147.4 m., a width of 23 m., a depth of 7.7 m. and a draft of 5.5 m. Its productivity is 3600 m3 of sand per hour over the length of 4 km.
