Beauty queens of the Miss Arab World competition organized charitable activities on the banks of the Nile River in Cairo, in light of the celebrations of Women's and Mother's Days.
Hanan Nasr, President of Miss the Arab World said in an exclusive interview to Sada el Balad English (See) that she organized an event to celebrate Mother's Day with elderly women on the banks of the Nile, where guests were received with gifts, and a wonderful time with the beauty queens during that 'special day'.
Nasr added that the queens will also visit other elderly women in their nursing home, as they were unable to attend the event. "Women were given perfumes that contain a high concentration of alcohol to protect them from the coronavirus," she pointed out.
The event was attended by beauty queens from 5 Arab countries, including Egypt, Algeria, Sudan, Syria and Iraq.
On her part, Miss the Arab World Egypt, Norhan Ahmed said that she feels overwhelmed by drawing a smile on the faces of elderly women during this special event, adding that all religions have asked us to be kind and generous with the elderly.
Ahmed added, "We can support them with a good smile at least or with a kind word. All religions say that."
Souha Zid, Miss Arab Algeria, said that the mother is everything in life, and whatever we describe the mother’s role, we will not be able to fulfill her right. He pointed out that "Mother's Day needs to be celebrated every day, not one day of the year."
Miss Arab Sudan Kalimat Galile Said that she is happy to be in Egypt, saying that Egyptian know how to celebrate all events in a special way, whether they are big or small. Galile also wished every mother in the Arab world continued health and wellness.
Maryam Ahmed, Miss Arab in Iraq emphasized that she is happy to study in Egypt, "the mother of the world." With regard to charitable work, she said that making people happy, returns happiness, adding that they gave gifts to the elderly, and spend a good time with them. "We will have more charitable activities during the holy month of Ramadan," she concluded.
Finally, Miss Arab Syria Ghosoun Shama said that she brought her mother to the event to share with her these happy moments. She said Egypt is known for its festive celebration filled with positive energy, happiness and decorated streets. "We are nothing without our mothers," she affirmed.
It is noteworthy that Moroccan Ilhame Bel Makhfi, 28, won the Miss Arab World 2020 title, after competing with contestants from 12 Arab countries, a ceremony attended by fashion and art celebrities, headed by Nasr.
