Ministry of Tourism & Antiquities Participates in Celebrating of International Cities Day in Luxor

The Ministry of Tourism &Antiquities is co-sponsoring the celebration of the International Cities Day, which started today morning in Luxor Governorate and will continue on October 30 and 31.

The celebration is organized by the Ministry of Local Development, Luxor Governorate and a number of other bodies, under the patronage of His Excellency the President of the Republic.

For his part, Amr El-Kady, CEO of the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Activation, indicated that the ministry will organize a dinner party for the participants, which will be hosted at the Karnak Temple Square.

The Temple of Karnak is considered one of the icons of the ancient Egyptian civilization.

The dinner is held in order to enhance the temple's participation in the activities of this event and to highlight the Egyptian identity to all attendees during their presence within this ancient archaeological temple.

It is excepted the temple has a great impact in the promotion and advertising of tourism and archaeology for Egypt.

On the sidelines of the dinner party, the world-wide famed archaeologist Dr. Zahi Hawass, former Minister of Antiquities, will give a lecture to the attendees that will include a presentation on recent archaeological discoveries, especially recent ones in Luxor Governorate.

The ceremony will also witness a musical performance.

The participation of the Ministry of Tourism & Antiquities in sponsoring this event comes within the framework of shedding light on the tourism potentials of Luxor Governorate and highlighting its unique archaeological treasures, especially in light of the boom and great development witnessed by the governorate in terms of developing and raising the efficiency of its infrastructure.

The World Cities Day event is the most famous at the level of urban development for cities, and includes discussions on the most important issues related to urbanization at the world level.

The ceremony witnesses participation of many donors, universities, research centers and United Nations bodies and reconstruction of cities.
