MCE Participates at Baghdad International Book Fair

The Muslim Council of Elders is participating for the first time at the 25th edition of the Baghdad International Book Fair, held under the patronage of the Prime Minister of Iraq Mohammed Shia' Al-Sudani, from September 12 to 22. The Council's pavilion features over 220 publications, including a variety works that address key cultural and intellectual topics, aimed at correcting misconceptions, promoting enlightened moderate thought, and fostering intra-Islamic dialogue. In recognition of the deep respect and affection the Iraqi people hold for His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders, the Council will showcase more than 20 of the Grand Imam's works.

As part of its ongoing efforts to promote intra-Islamic dialogue, and in response to the call of His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders, during the Bahrain Dialogue Forum—where he stressed the importance of uniting the Islamic nation and strengthening Islamic solidarity—the Muslim Council of Elders at the Baghdad International Book Fair will host a series of seminars and lectures featuring prominent scholars, thinkers, and academics. These activities aim to explore ways to enhance dialogue and understanding between various Islamic sects and to build effective bridges of communication, paving the way for a new era of cooperation and unity within the Islamic nation. The seminars will also address the key contemporary and civilizational challenges facing the Islamic world, highlighting them as catalysts for intra-Islamic dialogue.

In conjunction with the 10th anniversary of its establishment, the Muslim Council of Elders’ pavilion at the Baghdad International Book Fair will offer a variety of intellectual and cultural activities designed to meet the needs and interests of its visitors. This includes a special area for book sales and a dedicated children’s corner, featuring a range of educational and entertainment activities specifically designed for young attendees.

The Muslim Council of Elders’ participation in the Baghdad International Book Fair—held this year under the theme 'Iraq Reads' - includes contributions from 600 publishers hailing from 21 countries. The Council’s participation aligns with its mission to promote peace, foster values of dialogue and tolerance, and build bridges of cooperation among people of different races and beliefs. The Council’s pavilion (H2) is located in the Baghdad Hall.
