Egyptian actor, Mahmoud El Shazly, known for his roles in the popular 90's TV series “Layaly El Helmeya” and “Al-Shahd wel Domouaa”, died on Monday. He was 84.
"Mahmoud El Shazly has passed away. May god grant him peace. See you in a more loving place. Your prayers," actor Ahmed Sadek wrote via Facebook on Tuesday.
El Shazly's funeral prayer took place in his hometown, where his funeral is also set to be held on Wednesday.
Before his death, the late actor suffered a stroke in recent years, leading to complications that affected his hands and feet as well as made him distance himself from the acting scene and choose to stay in his hometown of Kafr El-Sheikh Government.
The late actor was born on 1 January 1940 in Kafr El-Sheikh. He worked at the Ministry of Health and was also a member of the Kafr El-Sheikh Theater Troupe.
El Shazly won many local and regional awards including an award for his performance in the play “Halafet.”
El Shazly began his acting career in television in the early 1970s and presented over 103 works.
The late actor is famous for playing a man from the working class. He is known for his roles in TV productions such as "Arabesque", "Alhabu wa'ashya' 'ukhraa", "Dameer abla Hekmat", and "Abwab El Madina".
El Shazly made his last onscreen appearance in the 2012 TV shows "Ibn Liel" and "Kayd El-Nisaa" season 2.
