French President Emmanuel Macron announced today, Thursday, to double the number of security forces to 4,800, deployed on the French borders along with neighboring European countries in the Schengen area.

Speaking during his visit to France’s border with Spain, Macron mentioned that the increased controls would target illegal immigration amid “a growing terrorism threat.”

The French President said that France would strengthen border control by doubling the number of police officers to 4,800.

This came after the repercussions of the terrorist incidents in France in the cities of Nice and Paris after the publication of cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad.
